Supporting Catholics in the Holy Land via the Catenian Circle in Nazareth...
Over the years during and since Covid, Hastings & Bexhill Catenians have twice been active in times of dire emergency in raising very much needed funds to support Catholics and in particular, Catholic children and their schools in Nazareth.
In 2019-20, our Catenian brothers in Nazareth made a direct appeal for urgent funds as, during Covid, when pretty much all tourism ceased in the Holy Land, Nazareth parents struggled to put food on the table never mind paying school fees to keep the local Catholic schools in existence. Yet, were there no Catholic schools in a region where Christians are very much in the minority and Catholics just a tiny part of the community, Catholic families might have no choice but to relocate. This has already happened in significant numbers and there is a real difficulty in ensuring that at least some Catholic schools stay open and Catholic families may remain a presence in this the birthplace of Christianity.
During Covid, HasBex brothers raised £10,000 for the vital and worthy cause of paying the school fees of children in desperate need. In 2024, a similar need arose and once again HasBex Catenians rose to the challenge raising and sending several thousands of pounds to the Catenians in Nazareth to continue their vital work suppporting locally, Catholics in need.
Fund raising is by no means a function of the Catenians - but, when a vital cause is identified no one is better or more generous than Catenians in answering call and providing substantial help to those in need.
