Hastings & Bexhill Catenians has been a Catenian Circle since 1922. A 'Circle' is the name given to a group of Catholic men that join the Catenians and meet together socially - in our case, from within some 10 miles around Hastings.
The Catenians are not political and in no way a pressure group.
We are not a Catholic group - we are a group of Catholic social friends.
We do support charities and last year alone the Catenians in Great Britain raised and donated over £250,000 for good causes - yet fund raising is not our primary purpose.
The primary purposes of Catenians are simply friendship and to lend support to each other.
Sometimes being a Catholic in our secular world can be difficult and it can be helpful to be part of a Circle of good friends with so much in common and with whom we can chat and meet up regularly.
Our Catenian Circle meets together each month for a formal meeting followed by a meal and much socialising. We also meet up regularly along with our wives and families to enjoy a wide range of social events.
Catenians do wonderful things for our Catholic young people....
Every year Catenians give financial support to young Catholics from all over the world who volunteer to do something wonderful and help those less fortunate than themselves. Whether this is on an individual project, or with others – or even if they are planning to travel to Lourdes to help an assisted pilgrim – we like to help young people to achieve their aims.
The Catenian Assiciation is the largest sponsor of 'Flame© ' (CYMFED) - the bringing together of Catholic young people at Wembley every two years to share, celebrate and reinforce their faith.
We are there for each other in life and after for widows and dependants...
Welfare - Catenians look after each other when one of us or a family member is ill. We include welfare as a topic at our meetings and keep all in our prayers.
Benevolence - Regardless of the steps a Catenian may have taken to provide a stable financial future for himself and his dependants, he or his dependants may still suffer material misfortune. It was to provide for such a contingency that the Catenian Association established a Benevolent Fund from which those in need could seek assistance. It enables assistance by way of a loan or grant to be given to Catenians or their dependants who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress. Such assistance may also include loans or grants to widows and dependants of deceased Catenians.
We created our Video for the benefit of all the Catenian Circles in East & West Sussex (Sussex Catenians). For contact with the Catenians in and around Hastings & Bexhill, do use the contact details below.
